Jamie and Erin met through dance six years ago and have been enjoying a successful partnership ever since. They have had experience with a number of different dance styles, in particular Modern Jive, which Jamie has been teaching for the last eight years. Individually, and as a partnership, Erin and Jamie have won and placed in a variety of different categories such as team, cabaret, and ‘dance with a stranger’ in events both in Australia and Internationally.
Jamie and Erin first discovered West Coast Swing in 2004 and had their first taste of the style while teaching and competing in Modern Jive in the United Kingdom during 2005. However, on their return to Australia, they were disappointed to find out that WCS was not taught in Brisbane. Since then, they have sought out and attended a number of classes, private classes and workshops, both nationally and internationally, with some of the best West Coast Swing dancers in the world, including, Jordan Frisbee & Tatiana Mollman (ranked No.1 in America); Miles Munroe & Tessa Cunningham (Canadian champions); Robert Cordoba & Deborah Szeleky (US Open Swing champions); Catriona Wiles & Lee Easton (UK/US champions), Skippy Blair (who has been pivotal in the evolution of WCS over the last 50 years), Ben Morris (2nd US Open Swing Championships 2009), Marianne Nunez (USA), Christopher Hussey & Katrina Branson (USA), and Shane McIntyre & Keri McLean (USA).
2009 was an exciting year for Jamie and Erin, who were invited to be guest judges and teachers at the first New Zealand West Coast Swing Championships. They were also approached to contribute to the introduction of West Coast Swing into Channel 7′s ‘Dancing with the Stars’.
Erin and Jamie have a strong passion for this vibrant style of dance and are excited to share this with their home town of Brisbane. They look forward to seeing you at one of their classes soon!
