West Coast Swing 101
West Coast Swing 101 was developed by Skippy Blair and other members of the GSDTA in order to standardise and preserve the basic fundamentals and characteristics of West Coast Swing worldwide. To achieve this, the World Swing Dance Council reviewed the evolution of terminology and teaching techniques over the history of the dance from 1950 to the present.
14 basic west coast swing patterns were identified and formally listed in order to “…clarify the basics and represent the essence of West Coast Swing.”
These patterns are the required, compulsory patterns for WCS 101 Competitions.
At Brisbane West Coast Swing, we are dedicated to ongoing training in Australia and the United States to maintain the latest teaching techniques so that we can deliver the highest standard of instruction and keep our students up-to-date with most current West Coast Swing trends and information.
